Use of Color in Advertising ( Over 7,000)Back

  • Place Name: First Place
    Contestant Name: Winona Post
Entry Title: La Crosse Fireplace: Create Your Own Backyard Staycation
    Entry Credit: Monica Veraguth
Judge Comment: This ad is very visually appealing overall due to cohesiveness of the colors used; at the same time, those colors differentiated the sections of the ad, which increased the overall effectiveness. Colors match the ad subject throughout the entire ad space and are used creatively to highlight key messaging/promotion information, which increases the effectiveness of the ad as well. Very well done.
  • Place Name: Second Place
    Contestant Name: Preston-Fillmore County Journal
Entry Title: Christmas Holiday Grocery Ad - 8 pages
Entry Credit: Jason Sethre, Michelle Quanrud
Judge Comment: Visually pleasing with effective colors that are appropriately consistent with the brand logo/color-scheme, while also including holiday themed colors. Used additional product photos/colors to highlight specific key product messaging, which added an element of uniqueness, while also maintaining color cohesiveness in a creative way throughout the entire document.
  • Place Name: Third Place
    Contestant Name: Minneapolis - Northeaster
Entry Title: Larson Dental Block Party
Entry Credit: Margo Ashmore, Vince Brown
Judge Comment: Visually pleasing with consistent/appropriate colors for the "100th anniversary theme" and the logo/brand theme for the company. Used colors appropriately in call-out boxes to highlight key event messaging. With that being said, there's still room for some creative color use to highlight some key benefits to attending - to include the charity and prize opportunities associated with the event that are somewhat easy to skim over because of the same fonts/colors being used for the entire bottom portion of the ad as well.
