Place Name: First Place Contestant Name: Albert Lea Tribune Entry Title: Advertising Excellence-Albert Lea Tribune Entry Credit: Albert Lea Tribune Judge Comment: Overall well laid out and good use of color. *Good use of directories. Attractive, good use of color and well laid out: Happy Holidays, Christmas Worship and School Year are three of the directories. Allows for more cross-selling by all of the advertising staff. The front page strip ads cannot always be sold as one, two or three equal sized ads. I appreciate the fact that the Albert Lee Tribune divided the space into five equal boxes to sell the space and allow more advertisers the opportunity for premium front page positioning.
Place Name: Second Place Contestant Name: New Ulm - The Journal Entry Title: Advertising Excellence - The Journal, New Ulm Entry Credit: Tim Babel, Becky Wilbrecht, Kristen Forbrook Judge Comment: Nice, clean overall look to the pages and paper. Good use of sponsorships with the Park and Recreation Month plus Hanska Lakes Baseball sponsors pages. Also the local business directory. I have never seen a Chamber News Page (local Chamber of Commerce) and appreciate this regular feature. Keeps the readers/local residents aware of ongoing happenings plus allows businesses to speak of their businesses and services.
Place Name: Third Place Contestant Name: Austin Daily Herald Entry Title: Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2019, Wednesday, July 15, 2020, Saturday, Aug. 22, 2020 Entry Credit: Crystal Miller, Heather Biwer, Brenda Landherr, Mike Delhanty, Heather Ryks Judge Comment: Nice overall look and layout to the paper. *Very nice Christmas Happy Holidays from A to Z page. These can be cluttered and overwhelming to look at. This page was visually well executed. Good use of the p[age A1 top and bottom strip ads (or coupole of ads). Expand that premium position for more advertisers to utilize
Competition Comment: All four submissionw were well laid out and a peasure to read through.
