    Judge Comment: Very strong writing that draws the reader in. If it were expanded upon and dove deeper into her story, it would have been a 2nd place contender.
  • Competition Comment: There were a few other fantastic articles that were close to the same journalistic level as the third place slot, making this competition a difficult one – but these winning pieces stood out the most in terms of writing style, AP Style consistency, and overall depth of telling a story. Job well done to all of you!
