Place Name: Third Place Contestant Name: Brainerd Dispatch Entry Title: A heavy grimace Entry Credit: Steve Kohls Judge Comment: Another strong photo of an individual in a group setting. Photographer did a good job of controlling background to enhance the shot.
Competition Comment: This was a really strong category. There were three other shots that did not make the top three but were deserving of mention. Category was so strong had a group of four go through top 12 entries. Six separated themselves. There were three other pics that made it into top three of most judges, but fell just short of the winners.
Minnesota has some great photojournalists.
