  • Place Name: Second Place
    Contestant Name: Jackson County Pilot
Entry Title: 17 The Front Man
    Entry Credit: Justin Lessman
Judge Comment: What a great story! The organization is on point, and each sentence leaves me wanting to read more. I'm glad you broke this up into different sections using subheads so the reader isn't bogged down with one large block of text. Nice job!
  • Place Name: Third Place
Contestant Name: Cambridge/North Branch-County News Review
Entry Title: A proposal on stage; tribute to father
    Entry Credit: Rachel Kytonen
Judge Comment: Wow, Rachel! This story is fantastic. There is so much here, and I'm hooked from the beginning. You capture so many emotions in this story, and you do it so well. You did this story justice.
  • Competition Comment: This was such a tough competition to judge because so many entries were done so well. Many stories capture so well what a human interest story should look like. Minnesota has very talented writers who should be proud of their work! Some of these stories are about the best days and others focus on the worst days of a person's life. These can be so difficult to write when these are several emotions, but these writers did the stories justice.
